When planning your laser hair removal around sun exposure and self-tanner, it's important to consider the timing for optimal results.

Post-treatment sun exposure is safe after about 3-5 days, but to ensure the best outcome, it's recommended to laser 7-10 days before a beach vacation or significant sun exposure. This allows the dead hair in the follicle to slough out properly and reduces the risk of irritation.

To protect your skin, avoid sun exposure and use intentionally mineral-based sunscreen to prevent tanning for 2-3 weeks before your appointment. Additionally, avoid using self-tanner before your treatment, as it can create safety risks.

We can treat tanned skin, just not recently tanned skin. If the sun incident resulting in a tan is more than 2 weeks ago, we can safely laser. If the area being treated has been covered by clothing or a mineral based sunsblock prevented a tan, we can safely laser.
