Selecting Your Peel Option
POST PEEL:-Avoid direct sun exposure 48 hours post peel.
-Avoid strenuous exercise 48 hours post-peel.
-Avoid touching, rubbing, peeling or picking of the skin.
-For 7-10 days post-peel do not use exfoliators, glycolic acid, Benzoyl peroxide, retinol or any other skin irritants. (As long as you're experiencing peeling)
-Do not shave, tweeze or wax for 2 weeks post peel to avoid damage to newly revealed skin. Areas you desire to wax/tweeze in under 2 weeks can be avoided during treatment by request.
-Do not PULL off peeling skin, may choose to trim with scissors.
Preparing For Your Peel
*Trust the process. Hair growth and experience will vary between person and all appointments*
- Edema (reddening around the hair follicle) is expected and normal. it may present as little pink bumps or "hives'”. Itching may also occur, DO NOT SCRATCH. This can feel very similar to a sunburn. You may use a cool compress to the area, use a cortisone, aloe or some may benefit from an allergy pill in more extended circumstances. Typically this goes down within hours to a few days comfortably. After you have had multiple treatments, this reaction lessens. The energy is absorbed by the hair, less hair = less inflammation and less visible/sensational reactions in most people.
- Hair "shedding" is expected but sometimes not noticeable post treatment. This may take 5-14 days. It may look as though new hair is growing back, in some cases the hair may slough out within a week with gentle exfoliation. Any hair that is noticeable beyond 2 weeks is acceptable to be shaved away and likely will not grow back much sooner than your next anticipated appointment.
- You can safely resume sun activities without concern of covering the treated area within 3-5 days after your laser treatment. It is strongly recommended to apply a mineral based sunscreen (zinc based), such as ones we have available for purchase. If you still have inflammation/welts or discomfort from your treatment, you should keep the area covered.
- Applying make up/lotions/deodorant is safe post treatment, as long as the skin is not noticeably inflamed. Adding perfume/alcohol based or active ingredients to the treated area may result in discomfort, rashes and irritation. You may opt for a powder or scent free deodorant on the underarms to reduce skin irritation.
- There are no restrictions on bathing except to treat the skin gently, as if you had a sunburn, for the first 24 hours after to reduce skin irritation
- Rebooking and maintaining your results will optimise the success of your treatment. The frequency in which we suggest you rebook may vary based on what we observe on your subsequent appointments. Ideally, you may notice subtle hair growth nearing the time of your next appointment. Delay in appointments routinely beyond a week or two may result in more treatments needed overall. Most rebooking will be suggested 4-6 weeks for your first few visits and extend time between as you’re progressing and have less hair growth. By the end of your treatment series, it is likely you may only be coming for an appointment 2-3 times in a year because of how minimal hair growth you will experience.
- Hair reduction results are considered permanent. Our bodies are always regenerating and hormones change, for this reason we assume annual maintenance will be required after your full series of treatments. This is based on your unique experience, if you could shave every 1-2 weeks, this indicates it’s likely time for a maintenance treatment.
